| 627 | Obituary Gerard John MULDER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerard John Mulder of Fredericton New Brunswick on January 14, 2024, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Gerard was born on June 10, 1943, in Deventer, Holland. Gerard, or Gerry as he was known by everyone, truly loved celebrating with his family and friends. Gerry was in the meat business, so you can just imagine him preparing his famous prime rib dinners at these events. He was also an amazing soup and pie maker. Gerry enjoyed watching movies and reading a good book on anything to do with historic events but what he truly loved was to wet a line on the Miramichi with his fishing buddies and family. Gerry's passion lay in operating the Mulder Meat business, established in 1968, which he and his wife and partner, Carolyn, started with a small savings and a loan from his father (at a rate higher than the banks he would always add). As a post-war immigrant from the Netherlands, Gerry began his work life in modest circumstances, but through hard work and a talent for relating to people, their business thrived. Gerry and Carolyn worked hard building a life and business together and supported each ones endeavors in building up their business. Gerry would work at the Boyce Farmers Market with her and the market became their tight-knit community. And of course, he came to know everyone. Whenever he was invited to explain the meat business, his true passion was revealed. He loved meeting people and working with everyone involved in the business, from butchers to sales to office staff. He loved it all, and he loved them all. Gerry used to tease that 'If you ain't Dutch, ya ain't much', but he had another saying that came from his heart. He'd say 'Talk to people. People make the world go round.' In addition to his wife Carolyn, Gerard is survived by sons John (Karen), Todd (Dana), and daughter Margo (Jon); his 6 grandchildren, Harrison, Olivia, Rebecca, Samantha, Madeline, and Amelia; along with his brothers Jos and Ted, sisters-in-law Cassandra, and Lavona, and brothers-in-law Steven, and John. Besides his parents Johannes Mulder and Everdina Boerkamp, Gerard is predeceased by brothers John, Tony, Nick, Bill; sister Anne Marie; and brother-in-law Keith Hastings. | Mulder, Gerardus Johannes (I10269)

| 628 | Obituary MULDER, Tony June 7, 1934 - June 21, 2023 Regretfully, the family of Tony Mulder shares with you the news of his passing, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in his 90th year of life. Surrounded by the love of his family, Tony left this world sharing with them that "he did it all!" Surviving WW2 as a young boy in the Netherlands, he grew up to immigrate to New Brunswick in 1955, where his then girlfriend and soon-to-be wife, Miep, joined him in 1957. They married in 1958 and began their family adventures together, landing in London, Ontario. The pair welcomed three boys in the early 60s before his diagnosis of MS was given in 1972. That didn't stop Tony from powering through to provide for his family and even having son number four with Miep! Owner and longtime operator of Mulder's Meats in Lambeth, Tony's entrepreneurial spirit carried him through 24 years in the community as the local butcher. Later he closed the business only to find a new hustle in restaurant equipment sales. If you have been in the food business long enough, you may remember Tony wheeling around Covenant Market, Trails End, all of the downtown summer festivals or from sunrise to sunset during the Western Fair every year. Perhaps you helped him with his scooter in and out of his van, had a chat over a coffee or waited in line for some food truck fare. Known for his willful determination, his love of birds and fancy harmonica playing skills, Tony will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Miep, his four sons and daughters-in-law, Mike (Lillian), Rene (Sarah), Mark (Andrea) and Justin (Christina). His grandchildren Christen (Matt), Amanda (Andrew), Shelby (Brandon), Christopher (Ashley), Eric, Justine (Nick), Paige, Cameron, Emma and Gabriella and his great-grandchildren Caleb, Edison and Gilbert will miss his Dad/Opa jokes, quick wit and birthday card doodles. Tony is also survived by his three brothers Jos, Ted (Carolynne) and Jerry (Carolyn) and many beloved nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his parents Johannes and Everdina Mulder; siblings John, Nick, Bill, Anne Marie; his brothers-in-law Richard and Doug; and sadly his granddaughter Ashley. His family would like to especially thank Tony's medical team, Dr. Sonuga, Dr. Razvi and Dr. Khan. Special praise to the team of caring professionals at Meadow Park Long Term Care, for the support he received in his last days. There are no words of gratitude to adequately express the family's admiration for their mother Miep, who made "it all" possible for Tony, and was his primary care giver right up until his inevitable admittance to long term care in April. | Mulder, Anthonius Theodorus (I6036)
